The Strainrite 3:1 Geared Reel arrives pre-wound with 500m (1640') of 6-strand polywire — the reel's full polywire capacity. Unbox it, clip it to the fence, and start running wire. No winding session before the first paddock.

The gearing is the reason to own this reel rather than a standard one: a self-lubricated planetary gear system turns the spool three times for every turn of the handle, so rewinding a long run takes far fewer cranks. The spool is one-piece moulded and self-insulated, with reinforced mag wheel fins for strength, in high-impact UV-resistant polymer built for strength and long life.
