Built by a day worker who got tired of watching good outfits lose money.
I spent years traveling the country as a working cowboy and day worker. Different states, different outfits, different country — and the same conversation at every kitchen table. A ranch can do everything right — the grass, the calves, the water, the work — and still come up short when the books close.
What I saw over and over is that the year often turns on a single purchase. A water system that keeps a pasture in the rotation. A stretch of fence that opens up grass you were paying to lease. A piece of equipment that does the work of a hired man. Ranches need the gear. The gear is priced like the people buying it don’t have to turn a profit.
I also saw the other side of the supply business: pallets of good equipment parked in warehouses because the box got dented, the order ran long, or the model got replaced. Perfectly good gear going nowhere, because it wasn’t shiny enough for a showroom shelf.
Discount Rancher is where those two problems meet.
What we sell
Overstocks. Scratch and dents. Closeouts. Brand-name ranch supply that works exactly the same in the pasture as it did on the shelf, priced to move out of the warehouse — not priced to pay for a showroom.
My promise
- I’ll tell you what’s wrong with it. If it has a dent, a scuff, or a torn box, the listing says so. No surprises on the tailgate.
- Real prices, not fake markdowns. The price you see is the warehouse price. I don’t inflate a “retail” number to make the discount look bigger.
- Nothing I wouldn’t run myself. If it wouldn’t hold up on a real place with real cattle, it doesn’t go on the site.
- Warehouse to your gate. It ships direct to your door. There’s no storefront, and you don’t pay for one.
- You’re dealing with a person. If something’s not right, tell me and I’ll make it right.
If you’re running cattle and trying to make the numbers work, this site was built for you. Look around. If you don’t see what you need, tell me what it is.
